I am back from my vacation. Martha's Vineyard is beautiful. Lots of old houses.
There are, of course, multi-million dollar Victorians, but don't worry. Some of them are only a couple hundred thousand.

Unfortunately, it was a little colder than we had hoped, stayed in the mid 60's, so we only had one day good enough for the beach.
Even then, the water was like -500 degrees.

But the food. Oh, the food. Fried clams out the wazoo. My dad and I were feasting.
Good stuff.

Anyways, I took like a thousand pictures, so I'll do my best to upload those and get them edited and on Deviantart in the next few days, hopefully sooner.

I was really hoping that this would be a really big event with a lot of participation, and I was disappointed.

I only got five entries, however.

I know you guys can do better than that.

I know at least a third of you watching me write, and most all of you have a song that you've written that you can summit, and everyone can contribute something, even just a feature, for this.

Hello DA Songwriters, I'm =BlackPeregrin, the photography account of ~PublicAffairs.

What's Your Idea?

Just about every great artist releases a Greatest Hits or Best Of collection sometime in their career: The Beatles, Earth Wind & Fire, Queen, Elvis Presley, The Eagles, Bob Dylan, the list goes on.

How about DeviantArt, as a community, releases our Greatest Hits?

If we got all our poets and writers to take the lyrics to a song they've written, and submit it to one big collection, then we'd have one hell of an album.

Think about it: Take all the active writers on DA- which is a lot, trust me- and each of them submits their very best song, then we have on our hands a collection of some of the great literary works on DA.

Do you want to be part of that experience?

Submit the link/thumb to your best or favorite song on DA (that you've written, of course), in a Note to myself (=BlackPeregrin) or my other self (~PublicAffairs) by June 6, 2009.

You have about five weeks to send in your works, so there's no excuse for you not to.

I'd very much appreciate it if you advertised this in your journals, on your profile page, wherever.
This will be legen... wait for it... dary! Tell your friends.

I'm also considering awarding a "Title Track" honor to the best song in the collection, just as encouragement and for fun.
This will be voted on by myself and a few selected others.

Don't worry, it's not like I'm abandoning this account.

I just thought it would be better if I separated my photography and writing.

So I've taken aside an account, ~PublicAffairs, for all my writing. Sometime in the future I'll move all my (good) writing over there, and then all additional written works will be published there instead.

I do hope all my watchers will rewatch my new account.

So yeah, can't say I've been very active on DA lately. OK, fine, I've been submitting my fair share of photos. BTW, check those out and critique them for me, please.

Anyways, not much has really been happening in my life. Still dealing with that whole girl problem, mentally at least.

Besides that, I went on an Orchestra trip to Indianapolis from March 19-22. That, truly, was exactly what I needed. A nice getaway, hanging with friends, playing cards, and trying not to sleep through other peoples' concerts (we got like 6 hours of sleep a night).

I'm also applying for an apprenticeship next year. There's this whole program in my county, where we get to miss one day of school a month for a year, learning some sort of skill. It's probably more fun that it sounds.
There's things from nursing to acting to animal care.
I applied for Digital Photography and Memoir Writing.
